THE GREAT WHEEL CLOCK
The Great Wheel skeleton clock originates from late 18th century France. Deceptively simple, it appears uncluttered and elegant which masks the incredible accuracy of manufacture required to keep the design so uncomplicated.
An exceptionally large first gear wheel drives the rest of the gear train which consists of just four gear wheels in total. With this arrangement, the first wheel needs to make fewer turns to power the movement for a longer period. The Great Wheel itself has 288 teeth and makes just one revolution daily.
